Our Team
DollarStoreHouse.com was created by Cassie Howard, a work-at-home mom from Vaughan, Ontario. After she and her husband purchased their first home together, they started visiting dollar stores more often, in order to purchase needed items without having to pay the prices that most of the larger chain stores were charging.
Cassie is passionate about frugal living. So much so, that in 2007, she launched MrsJanuary.com, a Canadian couponing blog that teaches others how to live a more frugal lifestyle. Check it out if you love to save money!
Sarah is a mom to 3 and until recently, was a full-time teacher as well. Living a frugal lifestyle has allowed her to teach part-time, providing her with the opportunity to spend more time with her young children.
As a teacher, Sarah goes to the dollar store very often. She is passionate about teaching children to be creative and feels strongly about achieving this frugally.
Sarah also loves to DIY and will be sharing some fun activities you can do (with or without little ones) to save you some serious money! Her helpers that you are bound to see in the photos are her sweet children: Madeline, Sammy, and Benjamin.
Kirsten is a transplanted South African who came to Canada in 2000. She lives in Toronto with her husband and two sons. She actively advocates for autism awareness and acceptance on behalf of her older son, who was diagnosed with autism at the age of three.
Kirsten loves to run, not only for the physical and mental health benefits, but to raise funds for autism services. She has a passion for writing and got into the freelance writing industry in 2010.
